MrMack, unlike Arkansas, New Mexico roads are not a revenue scam for crooked law enforcement.

I am leaning to new. A friend of mine and fellow member bought a used open with his brother. All sounded well and good, for $700. Last I heard they have well over $1500 into it. They could have gotten a nice new one for the same price, without all of the grief! So to me it is worth the extra buck to buy the new one.

D2D2, It has been my pleasure to drive lots of miles in both states, Years ago I decided that speeding tickets are not going to improve ones "Positive cash flow situation" and since I started driveing the posted speed limits not only has it been a challange for a former Leadfoot, but it did improve the Cash flow index, and the driveing license renewal questions. I hope that and a plain vanilla vehicle without any political or regional "Impeach Anyone that does not agree with Me!" or N.R.A. Life Member and "When You Pry it from My Cold Dead hands" bumper stickers. hoping that doing so will make me less Profileable. (I keep my Dixie air horns hidden and silent when in "Enemy Territory")

A couple of questions for your expert advice;

1. I saw an ad in my local paper for a 28' Pace, 8 1/2' by 102", used only once, insulated, rock guard $5,000. Sold before I even had a chance to think about it, I waited because I "think" this is too long, maybe. What is the "usual" length for a basic car trailer? The longest car I would carry is a '57 Chevy.

2. I would like to use my '55 Chevy pickup as a tow vehicle, 3/4 ton, 355 ci, T400, 9" rear (3.25 posi), long bed, Reece hitch, front clip from a '69 Buick (welded and boxed), rear axle from a F**d, 5 of the orginal 9 leaf spings in rear. Would this truck work as a tow vehicle with a 20' enclosed trailer with a '57 chevy inside or not?

Thanks

Gator,
The minumum would be 20'. With a wide car 102" width would be preferred. 24' would probably be about the longest unless you wanted to install cabinets, sleeping quarters etc. in front.

The 3/4 ton should pull it ok but I would adding back some of the springs or adding helper springs or air shocks or some other beafed up suspension in the rear.
