I have been restoring a 1927 chevy truck the last few months and about to work on the wood cab. It needs some boards replaced and I was wondering what everyone thinks about glueing the cab together. It is put togther with wood screws and not any glue was used as far as I can tell, I was just wondering if I should use glue??? Does the cab need to flex at all.
Thanks to all for any help

I would ask Bill of KC-Wood. Have a look here
http://vccachat.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=001573
Mine a '26 will be screwed and glued and I add some hidden steel tubes to make it as strong as I can get it.

Good luck
Richard

Thanks Richard,, The Cab was built by Patriot mfg. in Havelock Nebraska. I guess I just wanted to make sure to use glue before I start putting the cab together. At the moment Its in a whole bunch of pieces. I have to replace alot of boards even all the way down to the frame.
Here is a link for a picture of the truck before I started.

Hi, that's a good looking cab \:D look at mine like New
And once finished it should look a bit like this one really New but the doors turn turn the wrong way, it will be greener and there are a few other details that I can't reconstruct from the remaining wood. But by now I have seen them worse and looking very good after a while. Have a look at Arvid's site Arvids Site He does really wonders, he makes everything himself. More pictures at my site at the bottom.
The little line I stole from Chipper, he lives at Chevy Talk
Have fun.

Richard

I always thought that statement was attributed to Tom Meleo?

OK, but I saw it first when Chipper was using it. At least now I don‘t feel bad steeling it, Thanks.
I'm still working on that sound; it will take at least another six months until my engine is "roaring". But please explain who was Tom Meleo? I was Dutch for half a century before I moved to Canada. I should, no my Dad should have done that sixty years ago.

Actually Tom Meleo coined the phrase "Listen to the Roar of a Chevy four." My version is an adaptation based upon my heritage.
