For better results, you might want to post your question regarding your 1919 Chevy in the 1912-1928 forum instead of here in the 1929-32 forum. ;\) \:D \:D \:D

Hi topper,

Welcome to the Chevrolet forum. My apologies for the first response to your question.

The 1919 Touring is a "490" by definition. The engine number is stamped in the edge of the flywheel. The serial number is on the nameplate on the dash. I hope that at least one of the numbers match the number on your title.

The first Chevrolet was in 1912.

You did not indicate the number of cylinders your 1919 had. Could it be 8?

If I had known that growing old would be this much fun---I'd have done it sooner!

"My apologies for the first response to your question."

In order for the new guys to find their way around the site, I find it helpful to point out the correct forum for their questions and further inquiries. ;\) \:D \:D \:D

The 1919 most likely is a 490 but could also be an FB or "Baby Grand" touring. If the later the engine number is on the drivers side front engine support and the car number on a plate on the passenger compartment side of the firewall.

As moderator I will move this topic to the four cylinder era forum (1912-28).
