I'm new to this chat so bear with me. I just bought a 28 chevy coupe in pretty good condition, meaning it might be drivable with some work. It's missing a radiator cap. Being new to this I have no idea what I should pay for the winged wheel radiator cap that I'd like and should go on it? I've only seen one for sale for $400 but maybe that's too high?Any suggestions? sdakss aol

Welcome to the pre-war forum, Ray is right this is a hard item find. Reproductions are available but are rather pricey. Look on Ebay in Ebaymotors the have appeared now and then. Again welcome and happy restoration.

You might also consider buying a plain cap now for parking in less safe areas and spring for the $400 job later. You can always drill it for a motometer which I find more useful anyway. You can find Gary Wallace, Charles Mooney, Dick Moffitt, Wally Deck and others that carry these on my Sources page. Click on http://www.cybersurfers.net/~herb/sources.htm Herb
