Does anybody know if there is any special trick to getting OEM sunvisors off of the supporting rods w/o screwing them up? The original visors in my '68 pick up were Fawn gray, but shot. I got some medium blue visors from a buddy's donor truck. but I want to swap them out with the black visor set that's in my '71 Jimmy. [The Jimmy has been painted maui blue by a PO -- it's original color was Bronze with black trim.] Since it's a K/5 type it has special blazer brackets and they should stay with that truck. The black visors from the Jimmy would look real good on the Orange pickup. Suppossedly they are just friction fit, but they seem to have been put on for the millenium.

I was actually watching to see what the answer was but it looks like your not going to get one so I'll make a suggestion. Go to a junk yard and pick up a similar visor. Take it apart and see how it is put together, that may give you a clue as how to take one apart without dismantling the thing.
Good luck,
Brian

Actually my '67 and '68 visors are falling apart. But I perceive a slight style difference in the '71 and '72 examples. I suppose BIFI will always work: "Brute Force and F^$%!#& Ignorance!" The LMC calalog suggests that they simply slide off. Maybe WD40 or simple green soap? As far as the junkyard- they want $50 for a pair. LMC only wants $60 for new repops. Go figure.

Without knowing how the thing is put together you don't have a lot of options. Since they are friction fit I would think ripping them apart would only cause you more problems but considering the situation it may be your only choice.
