I'm working on a '38 and I could use a strip of that paper "rope" tack strip originally used to tack the headliner and panel section to the body. Is there a company that sells this? Is there a good replacement?

I also have a hole in the firewall insulation pad that I would like to patch. It looks to be made of some sort of fiber material. Is there any way to patch this material that will look good?

Thanks,

Brian

Hi bigbth-
If you are referring to the insulation material beneath the "cardboard" on the firewall insulator, I have had good results with a fresh piece of the old style carpet underlayment. It hasn't been available new for a while now, but an old house renovation is a good bet. It is a convincing repair from the engine side. The "cardboard" material is another story. There used to be an outfit that sold it in PA. (they used to sell out of the back of their truck at Hershey) called Three Rivers Supply, but I haven't seen them there for years and they don't ship through the mail.

I found your "Three Rivers Supply" just outside of Pittsburg. They are listed as upolstery supply and repair. I will try to remember to call them tomorrow and let you know what I found out.

BTW - I'm still looking for a paper rope supplier. It's probably not made any more but there has to be a substitute, let me know if you have any ideas.
