I have a 1936 Master. When I look under the dash there does not appear to be any wire color coding. All wires look alike. Should there be some kind of identification? The wiring is pretty simple so I can trace functions easy but I was just wondering.
Also what type wire (gauge, insulation type....) should I use to repair or replace under dash wiring? In other words, how to keep as close to original as possible when I need to replace wires. I am not sure the existing wires are original type. Some are solid and others are multi-strand.
Thanks for any information.

Are the colors significant? Is each function defined somewhere in a reference (i.e. ignition=red, tail light=green and so on)? Or is the colored string just to provide a tracer so you can determine the other end?
