I was going down through my list of things to look for this year, and came across a question of tool kits. Did the trucks have anything other than a combination engine crank and tire nut wrench?

Yes! There was an open end wrench, an adjustable wrench, a spark plug wrench, a dual wheel nut wrench, a ball pein hammer, pliers, a screw driver, an oil can, a tire pump, a tire iron and jack handle, a jack, and a rim expanding tool. The trucks came with a tool pouch that contained all of the little hand tools mentioned above.

The tools were not marked as being Chevrolet, and there were different manufacturers of the tools. Since you are a VCCA member, go to the VCCA website, click on "Technical Advisors" and then click on "Tools". You can click on Ray Lemaster's name and his email address will come up. He has some tools for sale and he also wrote a booklet that describes and shows some of the tools that were used by Chevrolet cars and trucks. It's a great little booklet, and those are for sale as well. Ray also has reproduction tool pouches for sale too.

Thanks for the source of tools. I have looked in antique shops etc. for Chev tools and have nothing. I was told they were marked Chevrolet, most likley weren't.

Nope, they were not marked Chevrolet. However, I do have a couple of hand tools that are marked Chevrolet, but they were used either in the factory or in a dealership and someone hand stamped them as such.

The reference to truck was intended to be for 1 1/2 ton models. The 1/2 ton models used the same tools, jacks, etc. as the passenger. It is the larger trucks that require heavier duty jacks and tools.

Since we have clearified that the 1/2 tons had the same jacks as the cars......what kind of jacks did the cars have?
