Someone mentioned this before, but I think it should be restated. If you post a question on the forum, before you press the Add Reply, press instead the Preview Post. Reread your question and see if you understand it.

With that said, and my apologies to 28chevrolet, I will try to answer your question.

If the lead wire broke how would this effect the condenser? We don’t know if you are running a Remy 284W or a modern coil with/without resistor. I am not familiar with “modern 12V condenser” as the condenser is not sensitive to a specific voltage within it’s operating range. Condensers are labeled by capacity at a specific voltage range and type (AC or DC). I must assume it was the condenser lead that broke?

When I see a remark such as the above I am forced to believe this is a recent occurrence and is not the norm. Things that would cause this problem in the short run would be the failure to move the spark lever to the advanced position after starting, failure to push the manual choke back in after the engine was worm, or a simple gas leak.

Again, 28chevrolet, please take these comments with a grain of salt, as they are not directed to you personally as much as a shotgun blast to all who use the forum.

If I had known that growing old would be this much fun---I'd have done it sooner!

Hay Raymundo!....I mean Hey! Raymundo!when you get all this site's chatters straightened out you will be older than a JunkYardDogJunkYardDog!

28 Chevrolet, my book shows all replaceable condensers for Chevrolet up thru 1954,(newest car I worry about) takes a 2 MFd condenser there are 2 numbers but that is because there are two different kinds of terminals on the leads.
