We are putting a '31 1 1/2 ton truck back together, and have a couple of _very_ basic questions: 1) Is it positive or negative ground? I think it is negative, which suprised me. 2) Does the wire from the ignition switch go to (+) on the coil and the wire from the distributor go on the (-) of the coil?

All Chevrolets are negative ground.

The wire from the terminal marked "Coil Gauge" on the electrolock goes to the "plus" side of the coil. The wire from the terminal marked "Coil" on the electrolock (which internally runs down through the electrolock cable to the distributor) goes to the "negative" side of the coil.
