I should have asked this question in my other posting. I just received my new lower radiator hoses, clamps and metal elbow for the 39 Mstr Dlx from Chevs of the 40s. What color should I paint the metal elbow - black (gloss or matte) or the same dark gray as the engine?

Chevrolet thought black was beautiful and harmonized with everything

Because the black hardware and parts were supplied by different sorces it was of various gloss and colors.....not all black is the same that is.

No

Nothing was painted with hi-temp paint from the factory.Regular enamel will withstand any engine heat except direct exhaust.That would be the exhaust manifold and passages connecting the head to the ex. manifold on some engines.

i have a dozen nos lower elbows . some are gloss black others semi black . my old paint books call for enamel. nothing special .kozy 2772
