First, Thanks to d2d2's posting of Casting Numbers in Teck Talk I was able to find out the following. The block number on my car is 836409 indicating it's a '31. The head number is 835503 indicating it's a '29. Will that cause a running or idleing problem? It seemed to work OK when I ran it 30 years ago and thought it was the carbruator that caused it to idle a little rough. Hate to put it back together if it wouldn't run just right as I have an other head #836273 indicating it's a '31. This came off a block # 836573 indicating it's a '32. Would like to put the '29 back on and try it as the '31 would have to be completley redid. Not much of a problem to change heads and not even sure the '31 isn't cracked or wraped. Thanks. Oh My Gosh, I can't get the spell check to work.

The '29 head should work ok on the '31 block. The only difference I can recall is that the '29 has smaller valves and a different location of the temp sensor.

Thanks d2d2, Just checked my '31 head and found out one rised valve holder is broken off so will check out one more I have on an old motor. Hate to scrap an old head but I don't think it can be repaired.

Well, I guess that's what maybe you would call it and I didn't realize they could be replaced. Will check it out. Thanks for the tip. Now I'll tip one.
