leecampbell Grease Monkey Registered: 07/09/03 Posts: 7 Loc: princeton, mn.	have coverted generator, coil and battery to 12v and tied charge lead directly to positive side of battery. car runs until battery drain then dies . if i jump with other 12v vehicle it will keep runing grounds are common at battery and alternator housing so grounding not an issue. looking for advice.. _________________________ lee campbell

bowtieollie Backyard Mechanic Registered: 12/15/01 Posts: 283 Loc: Philadelphia, PA	HI Lee, Attach a volt meter to the battery - you should have 12.5vdc - turn on the headlamps - and watch the voltage - it should stay above 12.2vdc. Then start the car - while the car is idling, You should see 14.0-14.5vdc. If you still have battery voltage - your alternator is not charging.
