HI Lee,
Attach a volt meter to the battery - you should have 12.5vdc - turn on the headlamps - and watch the voltage - it should stay above 12.2vdc.
Then start the car - while the car is idling,
You should see 14.0-14.5vdc.
If you still have battery voltage - your alternator is not charging. This could be caused by a bad voltage regulator or a bad alternator.
What model alternator are you using?
