1965 Chevrolet C10 lwb/long bed step side

my C10 still has the original style fuse panel with the glass bulb fuses.

The fuse on the heater blower circuit, sometimes it wiggles just enough after I hit a bump or something and it breaks contact, the heater blower turns off.

I'm sure I'm not the only one to have this issue or something similar.

I am curious if there are any safe fixes some of you have come up with?

Thanks.

Try a longer fuse of the same value.

Remove the fuse, get a bit of 1200 grit emery paper, clean up the contact area (wrap the emery paper around a small screwdriver end ), close up the contacts with some needle-nosed pliers, and put in a new fuse.

With the glass tube type fuse I have found some develope a bad contact inside the tube giving the indication you describe. Replace the fuse with 1 the same and your problem will most likely disappear.

Thank you for the replies, everyone.

Good stuff!!

I took the fuse out and checked the clips for wiggle, they seem solid. I don't know if the fuse itself was cracked before or broke when I removed it, as it was REALLY in there on the right hand side of the panel, but the glass was cracked, so I replaced it with a new fuse.

Before I did that tho', I bent the right side clip down a smidge, then snapped the new fuse into place.

So far no issues with the heater going off... but will keep an eye on it.

Anyone know what size that fuse clip is, in case I need to know in the future?
