My 1955 Power Steering cylinger leaks. Removed and installed new kit but still leaks. It looks like there may be a seal inside the cylinder, but it is welded together as one unit and impossible to get to? Does anyone know how to stop the leak short of buying a new cylinder. Thanks.

The seal is on the outside and replacing it usually dosent stop the leak >This is due to wear on the rod.Its wears most in the area it travels when the wheels are in the straight ahead position.I "bit the bullet" with mine and purchased a rebuilt unit.End of problem plus the rebuilts come with the larger rod like the '1958s and up have.

There is only one person to consider doing business with for power steering on these cars.

Steve Pratt

Tell him Bowtieollie sent you - his hardware is better than new.
