I am working on a 1950 Fleetline Deluxe that was manufactured in Canada.
The identifcation tag on the fire wall indicates a paint code of 63.
I have been unable to match this code to any paint chips. Can any one help me find the original colour that matches code 63?

My 1950 parts catalog shows that the 1950 paint codes begin with 4xx and are 3 digits long. Do you have any numbers like this on your plate? Ron

No it is definitely only the two digits "63" also on the firewall and under the hood there are what looks like chalk marks indicating 63. The trim code is three digit and starts with a "4"
Every where that I have checked indicates that I need three digits!
At this point I am at a loss to know where to check!

I believe that Canada used different paint codes than those used in the USA. \:D \:D \:D

Canadian cars did use different paint code numbers and paint names but colors were same as US cars according to my info....can you describe the original paint color (colour)????

Actually the paint number on a US car is the option number used by the dealer when ordering the car...The actual paint number varies according to the paint supplier.

The firewall and parts that look like they were the original part of the car are a light blue!

I have been trying to find a site that shows canadian colour codes but have not had any luck!

Thanks Glyn ... I have been to this site before & they don't show any two didgit paint codes also there is no light blue on the chart.
I am only guessing that the car was light blue when it came off the line as there are lots of tell tale signs to point in that direction.
I have been unsussesful in finding a site that shows Canadian paint chips or codes!

That kind of blows my suggestion-there was no light blue in the US version...The only light colors were a light gray and green. There was a medium dark blue.

You said that there are lots of signs of the color, what are these signs? Once you are sure of the original color a auto paint store can computer match the sample.

You might have to 'remove' something to get to the original color...if you haven't already done so.

Good Luck...

Thanks everyone for the help..... I have now found a site that GM has on vintage cars.
It takes 6 weeks to get the vintage package but they assure me that they can give me the original colour and a lot of other info on the car from the VIN number.
I will up date when I get the package...

I got the package of information today..
The car was produced in Oshawa Ontario and they show the paint code to be 63 - Aspen Grey Metallic.

I have not been able to find this colour on any of the sites that I have been up on, so still not sure what the origanal colour looked like!

Ataboy, I went through the same internet search for the proper colour for my 50 Fleetline. Found nothing. I ended up buying a Canadian supplier Paint chip chart at a local parts meet. The one I got was a Page from a Dupont Pint chart and cost me 3 bucks if I recal.
