Thanks on the pic. It's an old advertising printer's block that I found a long time ago. I knew I'd find a good use for it! Bill sure outdid himself with this idea - a great improvement over the rating system. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
I haven't had a ball bearing go on me but they seem to need more frequent adjustment, and when they get loose they can chew themselves up big time. I agree that ball bearings are dependable with proper maintenance, but the security of added bearing surface and minimum side play makes it a perfect safety modification in my opinion. My Vette has the same front end as the 1949, and when I'm cruising down these winding Northeast mountains those ball bearings are always in the back of my mind.

To answer 50 Chev's question: I don't know the #s, but roller bearing kits (all front bearings plus seals) are available from Corvette Central for $179.95. Safety ain't cheap!
