Thanks for the accelerator pump & circuit tip. The hole was stopped up. When car is warm, it starts and no longer hesitates between 0-10 mph. Another question: When the car is cold it starts quickly and idles great but when put in gear will die everytime. Quickly starts again. Timing using flywheel marks looks right. Any thoughts as I hate to adjust the idle screw and race the engine when out of gear?? Automatic choke looks like its working. When warm car drives great.

Best bet on this situation is the incorrect setting for the auto choke. You may have to get technical here and get the tacometer out for this one. Grab a service manual on your specific car and follow the directions carefully. If you don't have any reference material, repost and we will spell it out step by step for you.

Also check to be sure that when the choke is closed that the idle adjusting screw is on the stepup that is controled by the choke valve, it is connected to the idle screw stop by a rod that must be bent to calibrate it. If you don't have a repair manual the carb rebuild kit from NAPA ( $11 or $12) has an excellent instruction sheet for the Rochester BC carb.
