I'm trying to find a horn ring for a 50 styleline deluxe. don't know if i'm looking for a half ring or what. is orig.a half ring ? I suspect so. also I can't seem to remember who sells the replacement master cyl. with the 2 lines coming out of it. I've heard that the orig master cyl was / is called a dead mans brake because if 1 line or brake cyl goes out
no brakes. Hate it when that happens!

I have a book "Chevrolets of the 50S" by Tony Beadle, available at Hastings or Barnes and Noble. It shows an interior shot of a 50
Fleet line Deluxe (?) it has a horn ring that appears to be 12 circle and located on the lower half of the steering wheel. I have been driving since 1950, and until the introduction of the new two line master cylinders never had a problem. It requires regular maintanence of the brake system but the only time I ever have had a brake failure was in my 74 dodge pickup on a mountain logging road. :rolleyes:

AMEN on the Master cylinders Glyn, I never saw such a thing as a dual master cylinder till I was married and had grandkids, some of the things that people fear now SCARE ME! When I was a teenager I got my first job driving a water truck on a road construction job and I got the job because I was willing to drive a Chevrolet 2 ton tank truck that didn't have working brakes! (I really needed a job to pay my college room and board and tuition.)

thanks for the input.guess I'll rebuild what needs it and replace the lines. opened the master cycl. and it was bone dry. anyone know where to get a decent price on the horn ring. they seem kinda high at some of the usual sites that have them. Also, how do I remove the center acrylic looking piece? Mine has so many fractures running through it it scares me to possibly pry it out.

Schudaddie, I just read my post and meant to say 1/2 ring not 12 ring. Sorry about that. If that master cylinder was dry it certainly requires a little snooping to find out why. :rolleyes:
