My '46 Coupe came with no sill plates. Do the originals extend out covering that wide (4" or so) flat area which is outside of the carpet line and would be under the door when it is closed? Thanks for any info! Bob

Bob,
The aluminum sill plates on my '48 Fleetmaster are very narrow and only cover the edge of the floor mat or carpet. The wide area has ribbed, black rubber covering it - similar to a running board mat.

Hi Allstate yes they extend out under the door, P/N's are listed under Group 13.390 on page 642 of the Chey parts manual.

Allstate: Just as a little point of clarification, the sill plate is small, just reaching from the flat floor under the trimmed floor covering up and over the raised feature on the floor at the inside of the closed door, but there's a second part, a metal reinforced rubber mat that reaches from the al sill plate under the door like you are describing. I am at work and don't have access to my parts book, but I am pretty sure there's published illustrations. Chevs of the 40s has these parts available new, and they are pretty good looking parts.
