I have 2 wiper motors, the one that was in the 48 and one I purchased on ebay. Both very different, the original is much small then the ebay one.The ebay motor has brass nuts on the shafts going to the links and the original does not,it also has an adjustment slide lever that the original does not...where I really get lost is the holes in the links that connect to the motor, one is big and one is small(meaning one fits on a brass nut and the other directly to the motor shaft....is this many different years of parts intermixed??Which combo is correct??chef-

As you have discovered the Ebay motor is not for a 1948.If you can find the numbers on it (in black ink) I may beable to identify it for you.

Chef,

Correct number should be stamped with black ink on the small cover on top of the motor.
(SSR 36) The brass nuts fit into the rubber grommets on the wiper transmission arms. Make sure the motor is screwed in tight, or it will dance around under the dash, and the wipers wont go the full distance of travel they should.

Email me. I just got done replacing mine last week. I can email you some pics of the CORRECT motor.
