My '37 Master Deluxe town sedan was originally a Beryl Green, I think (code 216 -- reference not with me). I will repaint later this year but have a questions regarding firewall, inner front fender and under hood colors? Was firewall body color or some other color? Were inner fenders black or body color? What would OEM be for underneath the hood? Thanks.

Jim,

The firewall "front of dash", is body color, the front fender inner panels are black and the hood panel underside is body color.

Jim, The firewall is body color, the inner fenders black and the underside of the hood was a dark gray primer, you will see a lot of the restored cars have the hood undersides either black or body color but this is incorrect.

If I'm not mistaken, I don't think that gray primer was used then since GM was still using red oxide as their primer base, and continued to do so for many more years.

Jim-
My unrestored, 40,000 mile, original paint '38 is black body color and black under hood (not gloss black - looks like unbuffed black lacquer, which would make sense).
