what are the correct fasteners for the hood hinges that fix them to the fenders...Am putting on my recently aqquired hinges, and the fasteners holding on the existing one are different in themselves...so i don't know which is a reference...

Are you calling the hood hooks or latches "hinges". I am referring to the candy cane shaped spring loaded latches that fit into a slot between two projections on the piece riveted to the hood sides? The "candy cane" latches are held to the fenders by stove bolts (1/4"-20 tpi round head machine screws) with split lock washers and square nuts.

I was hoping that is what you meant. Otherwise both of us were dumbfounded. Think I may still be. Since all '31 Chevys use the same fasteners for the hood latches what 31wgh was wasn't a problem.

Except at least some Canadian made '31's! My '31 Coach came with latches and hooks same as '29/'30. I understand it was not unusual for Canadian models to be assembled in early part of sales year using up inventory of parts from previous years models where practical, such as hood latches, door handles and like items. No doubt leads to all kinds of questions at show time as to what is correct?

Yes, the Canadian '31s had a bunch of differences from the USA models. The hood and hood latches is one. Given that the latches were different they both were still held to the fenders/aprons with stove bolts.
