Should the keys to my 38 be silver or brass in color. What locks should the ignition key fit. I want to get this all done at one time. Door, glove box, ignition, gas cap and rumble lid. Are the keys often on eBay (B10 B11) correct?

The keys were Briggs&Stratton. They were chrome plated - probably over brass. The door and ignition was the hex key and the round key fit the trunk and glove box. The locking gas cp was not B&S and was a different looking brass -non-plated key.
The 1938 keys did not have the GM logo or writing on them like Mark of Excellence.

I think the keys should be brass in color.

The door and ignition should be the same cut.
The trunk and the glove compartment should be the same cut.
The locking gas cap should be a stand alone key.

I think the above is correct. If not, then someone will let us know in a New York minute. dance

You should get an extra gas cap key made. Oh, yes. Then you should mail it to me. Can't tell when I might get lost and wander into Ohio. Might even be in the middle of the night.
Thanks,

I don't lock the gas cap to secure the gas. Just leave the cap, have you seen what they go to today.

Check your local hardware store for the B10 and B11 keys. They are still quite common and many stores will sell just the blanks if that's all you want. Ebay is great for hard to find parts, but I always believe in shopping local first. wink
