My '31 Coach came to me with a period rectangular rear view mirror mounted on driver's door. It has a U shaped bracket designed to snugly fit over lead edge of door about halfway up window, and a lock-screw on inner face that tightens U against frame. Works excellent and appears to have been specifically designed for this purpose, requiring no drilling of door frame.

I had a machinist make brakets to mount rectangular motorcycle mirrors on my '31 coupe doors' middle hinges. They work well and will not result in any scaring of paint on my doors. We chose motorcycle mirrors because of the long shaft they have. The brackets mount through the holes for the hinge pins.

I used a small "peep mirror" which attaches to the door (no holes drilled, it's a clamp with a set screw).
It's been on there for at least 20 years and works fine. Should have cleaned the bug spots off before taking the picture.

Mine is similar to Karl's only rectangular, but since my car is a '31, hinge is at top of door and so my mirror is mounted at about where the hinge is on a '32, giving a better angle perhaps. I like the suggestion of mounting on hinge pin for a '32.

I thought about using a clamp on peep mirror like karl31 has but I would have mount mine lower on the door as there is very little clearance at the top when the door closes. I don't think there is anyway to adjust the door back towards the center post.

If anyone would like to see a '32 coupe with a mirror mounted on the hinge, I'd be glad to email the picture to them - just send me a PM with your email address. I saw the car at an AACA meet in NC.

As I indicated earlier, a machinist made the brackets for my '31 coupe. They attach through the hinge, which is different than the '32 ones that I emailed to some of you. If anyone wants to see the '31 mirrors, send me a PM with your email address.
