I thought I'd start a new topic on this, since the old thread was complaining about the lower pins...

History: I purchase and returned upper and lower pins from eBay vendor and purchased new uppers and lowers from chevsofthe40s.

Same problem with the uppers from chevsofthe40s. The bushing wont even start to thread into the upper A arm.
(The old bushing hand screws in with no problem.)

I had a machinest look at the old and new bushings.
Old bushing: .979-OD .957-root thread diameter.
New bushing: .985-OD .964-root thread diameter.

I haven't called chevs of the 40's yet.

Does anyone have a 49-54 bushing that they can measure the OD and root thread diameter on.

I have this idea for two reasons:
This is the same issue I had with the ones from ebay.
(So maybe an entire batch got screwed up at the factory)

If I believe the pictures in the chevs of the 40's catalog, the bushings (and seals) look like they are from a 49-54 pin.

39-48 pin: (my original looks identical)

49-54 pin: (my new pins have these bushing and seals)

Haven't you tried to buy NOS parts? They appear quite often on ebay.
Indeed the 49-54 does look a lot the 39-48 one.

Chevs of the 40s probably has the most parts available for restoring classic Chevy's and I appreciate having them around. However, I've bought so much stuff from them that wouldn't even come close to fitting. For example, various so called kits that include all hardware to redo something....then I find the wrong hardward in the kit or wrong threads on bolts etc. Many of the parts and kits that weren't correct were arond $10. After calling them about the problems, they gladly offered to refund my money upon return of the wrong parts to them. So after paying for shipping to return, I'm left with a $2 or $3 refund. I finally began not returning stuff because it's almost cheaper to keep it by the time I pay shipping. For them to offer so many parts for Classic Chevy's, I would have thought they would have their act together a little better.

On the other hand, I have received many correct replacement parts from them too so I'm not going to throw them under the bus. It's just aggrivating to get a $4 bolt kit for something only to find coarse threaded bolts instead of the the correct fine threaded bolts.

I'm 110% with you Brandon.
This stuff is annoying and stupid expensive, but overall, can't "throw them under the bus."

I ended up getting a pair off of ebay.
