Hi there,
my 34 Chevy std has a standard Holden GM engine of the period.
my dashboard has a speedo, ammeter, and a combined fuel and oil pressure gauge.

I wish to fit a water temp gauge, after market type but sympathetic to the chevvy look and find that there are 3 possible take off points on the engine block.

One on the cylinder head at the very rear, behind the rocker cover, and one on the R/H side of the water pump and another just below that one above the rubber hose.

Question: which one should I use? cool

Peter

The hottest location is on the back of the head. That is because of low coolant circulation as well as low air circulation next to the firewall.

Chipper is right, the hottest location is the back of the head but a lot of manufacturers use a point near the base of the top radiator hose.
