computer Tony,

Try "Chev of the Forties", "Obsolete Chevy Parts", and "Ida's Chevy Parts". Also check Ebay as they may have what you might need. Good Luck! parking

In my opinion you would not be happy with the Chev's of the 40s grill as it is more street rod type.

Contact Dick M and see if what he has is an original grill chrome plated. This will be what you need. Dick is OK to deal with.

I iagree with Ray. Dick Moffett is an OK guy to deal with.

Did I read that right? New Zealanders drive on the right side of the road instead of on the left. If so, I sure didn't know that. You learn something new everyday!

Good luck with the grille.

BTW: Maybe those Aussies think that since they are driving upside down that that means they are driving on the right side of the road. Who knows?

Us Aussies dont drive on the "right" side of the road, we drive on the "CORRECT" (left) side of the road and the driver sits on the "CORRECT" (right) side of the car. I dont know which side the New Zealanders drive on but they bought a lot of the clunkers that were left broken and abandoned on the side of the road here.

The 1939 grills for hotrods are laser cut out of flat stainless steel sheet ,and then welded together down the centre front. The bars are just flat sheet, not like the original grill which is two half sections bolted together, and the grill bars are multiple folded bars.

Their listing says a replated stock grill. They have other '39 grills that they list as hot rod grills. Since I've not purchased one of their grills I can't say for certain one way or the other. It's probably worth contacting them with that question before you spend the money.

41 grilles go for around a grand, so the price for the 39 grille would appear, to me, to be about right. Plating is expensive here in NC.

Tonysk, I'd recommend going for it. luv2 Show your cousins in Australia a thing or two. Question: Do you all ever visit each other? beermugs

aust Tonyw (y-all sure like "Tony" down there, don't you?): I think the other Tony is considering that shinny newly re-plated one. If he gets it, you can go over there and visit and marvel at it. Do you visit them? monkey

BTW: How come we don't have a New Zealand flag available in the "smiles" section? dance

hi is chrome plating expensive over there i woulnt know i asked
dick m if i could buy the grill not plated but he wasnt keen on that i was also thinking if it didnt quite fit i could teak it a bit then plate it . and it would cost less which would help with the exchange rates etc but i may be in luck i have been able to buy 2 grills which need some work so im off to the panel beaters to get a price later this week but im still keen to get a price of dick m it sounds like they are ok

On the whole the New Zealanders arent a bad mob (the ones I have met anyway) but there is the friendly rivalary accross the ditch.
No I dont have a 41, I am having enough trouble getting permission to finish my 38 before I start on another project for myself.
