The application would be 1950 1962 235 engine. The intake is for a 235 engine as is the exhaust. The exhaust man. would work on a 1937 but wouls not fit the 216 intake manifold. The "pair " would fit a 1937 engine but a special exhaust pipe wouold be necessary d for the stock (front) location. Would require a larger 235 carburetor if the intake was used. that would produce more power).
The 1937-1939 engines require a lot of little changes to get them to produce more power over 3000 RPM. They were designed to produce a lot of torque at low RPM's. What you can do to the engine dependson where you want (at what RPM) te power to kick in.To increase the power at higher RPM"s you will losse some at lower RPM"s.
Milling the head .125" will increse power and fuel mileage. Stronger valve springs and a 1940 and up fiber timing gear (will alter valve timing) will give a little more higher RPM power.
