hi there,
in fitting up the throttle linkage and hand throttle on my 34 std, I have 2 positions available on the throttle lever.

The pictures show that I have it connected to the inner one.

Is this the correct hole to connect the metal arm rod to?

I also need a connector for the linkage and show one in the pictures. Where do I get one of these connectors?

click pic to see other pics explaining my quest...........

The carburetor pictured is not a 1934. A '34 carburetor should have a straight throttle arm not one with two 90 deg. bends. I suspect that the carburetor is a 483S or 574S ('41) which is nearly the same as the later replacement '32-'36 569S. The throttle arm is the key difference. BTW the arm would only have a single hole for the accelerator pedal rod. The throttle cable would be attached to a arm with swivel (a swivel shown in your picture) on the bell crank on the side of the block.

Thank you Chipper for your prompt reply.

I dont under stand the last piece of information.
what is a "bell crank" and where on the block?

I still have the original carbie, but bought the later model at a swap meet many years ago, thinking that down the track it would be better to have a new one at hand, just in case!

I had not noticed the difference in the throttle arm blush
Is it possible to correct the method of attachment for the hand throttle or with this model carbie, just leave the cable in place (for looks) but not attached to anything?

Cheers
Peter

I don't know exactly how a right drive accelerator linkage is routed. Either right or left there should be a pivot point on the left side of the block for the rod linkage to change from horizontal to verticle. The bell crank is a two armed piece that fits on the pivot and does the change.

Hi Chipper,
Ahh now its starting to make sense, the part you mention is almost hidden behind the inlet/ exhaust manifold.
I checked the new carbie and its a 420S for a master 36-40.
The old carbie throttle arm looks as if it has been (adjusted".
Bent to suit a straighter line and the end hole (of 2) cut off at some point in time. I had thought of changing them over but this may not work for all the effort involved?
where would I buy one of those small swivel block clamps? is that the correct name even?

Peter

Hi Chipper,
just an update on the linkage.
I removed the carbie and and changed the throttle spindle with the original carbie, a rather fiddly job, and such tiny screws to play with.
Reinstalled it and now the solid steel linkages and pivots all work nicely. I can see the location of the hole where the manual throttle cable goes, but dont have the appropriate connector for the cable to arm fitting.
In the fullness of time, I may be able to find one, so for the time being, I will leave the manual throttle out of the dashboard, and put a grommet in the hole.
Thank you for you help....

Cheers
Peter

Glad you are working out the throttle cable hookup. I know what the bracket on a '32 looks like but don't have a '34 to check. Maybe someone else has a '34 that they can take a picture of bracket.
