Hello. Been searching for running board mats for 36 standard coupe. I've read where others are having success from a company called I&I, but has anyone had experience with the 36 Standard. New to the forum, and thanks for any advice !

Hi there, I bought mats for my 34 std from I&I and they are a perfect reproduction and reasonably priced. Talk to someone at the company, they will advise you..

I would bet only one company actually manufactures the mats. I have replaced the mats on my 1936 standard and they look great I bought them from a supplier that is no longer in business, but I bet they were from the same source.

I still have his 1934-1935 chevrolet standard series mats on my coupe. I think I&I bought the molds from Jim ( ? ) and then has a run of them produced when new demand is there for a particular mat. mike

Just to follow up, I did order from I&I and the mats arrived the other day. They are a perfect match. Thanks for the help, I thought this was a dead end search. Can't wait to see them on after all this time.

I hope you purchased their glue to glue them down. Originally Jim McConville the maker of the mats back when, 1970's , had a real problem getting a glue that would work with the rubber. He spent a lot of time working with 3M to find the right one.

I stopped by I&I to see what glue they supplyed. They used to supply 3M #10 contact cement but have switched to another common brand contact cement that you can find in any good hardware store (I don't remember the brand offhand). They said they couldn't get the 3M in pints anymore so made the switch. They offered that the key to good adhesion is to really rough up the back side of the rubber mat by sanding. I would even consider using a disc sander.

hi there, I too have a set of I & I running board mats to attach at a later date. I am very interested in the correct type of glue to use. In Australia we can buy standard contact adhesive, is that ok to use, because when using contact adhesive, you only get one chance at the job. I know this, because I was shop fitting for 25 years and used the stuff almost every day........... what is the brand and type to look for ?

3M is a major brand and sold worldwide, just because they do not make it in pints anymore , so what, buy the quart. You should be able to get this in Australia ?? It cannot be that expensive to get the right contact cement as recommended by Jim McConville the original maker of the rubber mats. It was 3M #10 as correctly posted above by another.
In the 70's he spent weeks testing their products to get the right one to work with the rubber.
Failing to be able to get some, buy the recommended cement from I&I .
