gerejon Shade Tree Mechanic Registered: 01/31/03 Posts: 91 Loc: Laurel, De.	I want to use silicone brake fluid in my 54. I have a new master cylinder, all new hoses, new lines except for one piece using over again. I am rebuiliding the wheel cylinders. I thoroughly washed the wheel cylinders with alcohol and honed them. The one line I am using over I flused with alcohol several times. Am I safe to use silicone fluid? I don't know what the new master cylinder was assembled with. Appreciate any thoughts.

Chev Nut Registered: 01/08/02 Posts: 14900 Loc: West Allis,Wi.	I have had Silicone in two of my cars for over 25 years with no problems. As with any fluid with a system vented to the outside air the fluid should be changed every 10 years or less. _________________________ Chevgene

Chipper Registered: 11/22/01 Posts: 10241 Loc: The Great State of TEXAS	The master cylinder needs to be flushed a couple of times. Then you will be good to go. A pressure bleader is recommended because getting all the air out of silicone fluid can be a chore. _________________________ How Sweet the roar of a Chevy four!
