The wires I bought from a supplier are made of lacquered cardboard it seems like. They crack just looking at them. If I were to go to the local parts supplier to get some good rubber ones , do I just ask for a set for a Chevy inline six or are there some specs I should know about?

The original wires were a black lacqured cloth with right angle connectors and no boots over the plugs. They would not crack if flexed.

I bought reproduction wires that are rubber sheathed with the bare angle connectors. I believe YNZ sells the lacquered cloth wires.

Tiny,
I noticed the red heater hoses (who could miss them). Was red correct for certain years? And if so, what years? Anybody?
Thanks,
Charlie computer

I don't know what color was correct. I assume it was black. The FLAPS I went to only had red so that's what I came home with. Now that the engine is out getting rebuilt I'll replace the red with black. I'd sure like to find heater hose clamp that holds the hoses to the side of the engine compartment. They are always in the way just hanging there.

TINY...Are you missing the whole hose bracket (both pieces?)My car had the permanently attached back piece but was missing the outside piece that goes around the hoses and attached with a screw in the middle.I made that piece simply by using two electric conduit clamps.....Good Luck...... ED

I don't anything that even looks like a bracket Ed. Do you have a couple of pictures that show what it looks like and where it mounts?

Tiny....I have no pictures but I would be glad to take some if you can wait till the weather warms up. I am having some medical problems, my garage has no heat and the medicine they are giving me is making me sick.
In the mean time though you could look in the VCCA archives..About a year or so ago there was a big discussion about that hose bracket with allot of folks chiming in,including you....The person that started it? posted some nice pictures in one of the posts......Good Luck ED

...Inner Fender Heater Hose Brackets ? If you don't mind using '47 - '53 Chevy Truck Brackets , I see'm on Ebay....the truck brackets are actually a little smaller than the same year for cars...

The original wires up through 1952 were very black. They were lacquer coated and if you look close you can see the cloth pattern.
