Gooday,
I have a 1928 (read 1927 for most hardware), model LP 1 ton truck. Chassis done. Relined brakes. Fitting wheels to front spindle just to check if they fit OK on old bearings.
When I came to screw on the 3/4" castellated nuts I ran into a problem. It seems that a previous owner had used 3/4-16 castellated nuts.
"That is correct", I hear you say.
Only-------the thread on the spindles is 3/4-20 !!!!!!!!.
As a consequence the nuts had been stripped and would have been held on mainly by the cotter pin (split pin).
All parts (except the nuts) appear original and are exactly the same ones I dis-assembled some time ago.
Has any member heard of this being the case??
