I see exhaust systems for sale on Ebay...for the '41-'47 it appears the Muffler is at least 3 ft. long and about 5" inches in Diameter...Being I've never actually seen one...Is this "correct" for these years...? Kevin

I think that seller on ebay posts a generic picture. I just bought a system for my '37 and it fit perfectly. The muffler is the right length and not nearly as long as the picture. I emailed the guy with some questions and he replied promptly. I would email him and ask if the muffler for your year car is round or square and the dimensions of it. I believe that the '40s mufflers were oval as stated above and the 30's mufflers were round. I was happy with the system I received. One thing I did not expect was that the tail pipe was 2 piece but it worked fine. I think he does that for easier shipping.

Thanks Ed and Sarge...I will ask him about it...I'm trying for that "correct" version...what I have now is dual exhaust with glass-packs ( came that way ) I'm to old for the Rap sound and I don't need the extra power...and now I'll have to get another manifold 'cause of the extra flange...he also removed the butterfly and welded up the holes...Geez , it takes 15 minutes before it starts warming up...Kevin ...I see the pictures are all the same...

Kevin, I would say that the system I got is more like a replacement like you would get if you had gone to an auto parts store like NAPA (back when they sill carried them). Not an exact copy of an original GM part. It fit great but it didn't have the tab for the spring that goes from the exhaust pipe to the frame on some models, also the tail pipe is made in 2 pieces.

Kevin Why didn't you get an RVS one?? They are made to the exact factory specs for only $395 plus $95 post then you have a system for life. I wish I was living in the States.I did an attempt to order one from the States but unfortunately it was coming to more as $950 after shipping import and value added tax so I did not order it. At the moment I am making a system by myself from loose parts that I purchased for a fraction of the price. Jianis
