Hi. This is my first post to this site so sorry if I am not posting correctly. My father had 2 old Chevy Impalas (63 we think). One is a red convertible and the other is a white car that was going to be used for parts. These cars sat on our property for decades but I do remember driving in the red one as a child. Our father passed away last year and now we don't know what to do with them. The cars would need a lot of TLC and restoration. Are these types of cars desirable even if they need a lot of work? I do have pictures if anyone is interested in seeing them.

Welcome to the VCCA site..... YOU CAME TO THE RIGHT PLACE....I am not knowledgeable about your deceased fathers cars (1963?) But I do know... ALL CARS ARE WORTH SOMETHING.... And convertibles are worth MORE than Something.
Hang in there, some one will answer any of your questions. There are folks that belong to the VCCA that know every thing anyone needs to know about Chevy's...Good Luck...ED

A few detailed photos will help with identification of the cars and give a clue to the value.

Thanks for the replies! I am adding the pictures that I have of the cars. They aren't too detailed but they are all I have. I hope they load correctly. I haven't loaded pictures to this site before.

The Convertible is a 1963 Super Sport. The white car is a 1963 Impala Sport Sedan.

Both cars have been attacked by iron worms and the damage is considerable.

If I had known that growing old would be this much fun---I'd have done it sooner!

Thanks so much for the info. Is the damage so bad that they should be junked; or would someone interested in restoring cars be able to do something with them? We would hate to junk them because our dad had plans for them; but we don't have the knowledge, time, etc to work on them.

They don't look too promising but photos can be misleading. A close inspection by an experienced body man can give a better idea of the value.

I would suggest finding a professional appraiser. Sometimes an insurance company that specializes in antique vehicles can recommend someone. As someone who lives in an area where rust problems are common its important to get a thorough inspection as an external visual is not always accurate. Both cars are desirabe collector models so even though not in the best of condition will still have a value much greater than scrap. If you do decide to sell them I think this Chevy site would be an excellent place to advertise them.
