It does look great...it's that commitment of time and deep pockets that scares me away from "going for it" with my '47...Had a question...I see your defroster is in place...Was wondering if you'd used rubber grommets on the firewall ? I see'm on Ebay for trucks but imagine their the same . I picked up a NOS Defroster in the box on Ebay $60 + shipping ( what can I say I was the only bidder ! ) Kevin

Hi Dale, Grain-it, back in 2005. Amazing work! Been packed away ever since. Got the rear glass garnish out also. Might try and put in the rear glass next. Dale, thanks for the help with the switch. I just did not know witch of the terminals to use. Now I guess i'll have to buy a battery and check it all out.

Yes, Hampton, had it under my bed since 2005. Really surprised I did not have more wrinkles than I did (first attempt at this). When I get a chance I plan to borrow a steamer and see if the few light creases will remove as per the instructions. Have you located the foot scrapers yet?

Grommets? Where? I guess not. I bought this complete NOS underseat heater in the orignal box back in 2000. Don't recall any grommets but I will recheck in the next few days if I can recall where I put the instructions that were in the box.

Oh...I was referring to the Defroster tubes through the Firewall...that is a defroster peeking out from under the dash , isn't it...?

Yes that is the defroster. My nos came complete heater/defroster. I could not rest, I found the instruction. Did you get the instruction sheet with your nos defroster. If not I can try to send you a copy. No mention of grommets.

Thanks Russell , that's probably why there only advertised for trucks ( the grommets ) not used in car...we got that fiber mat stuck to the firewall...hard to fit a grommet on...Kevin...I guess...
...I just found my instructions...I don't see grommets...

ruscar,no foot scrapers located yet,I have alot of feelers out there..I have been looking at the Hampton Coach fabrics for years now and have yet to pull the trigger.Unfortunately as years pass, their options change.I just recieved their lastest fabrics for the 48 Fleetine and their colors are changing again..I better make up my mind soon, they seem to have a preference to Fcursed

I tried to find Grain-it on the net and didn't see it...they can't be out of business...( ? ) Looking at my dash I think I can probably rub it out and maybe clear coat it...it's the window garnish that will need paint...then they'll be too nice for the dash...

Yes Sarge, I recall your post and was not looking forward to mine based on what you said. AND you were right on about it being NO fun. Tack in, tack out, tack in, and tack out. I also used staples, must have put in and taken out 10,000 or so it seemed. Thanks. Also, took me seven hours, but the rear glass is in. Two hours to set, five hours to clean up the glue, really!

Sounds like I'd better let a pro do mine...You got the rear glass back in ok by yourself...? I need to do something with mine...some small rust issues along the bottom...Is there no longer insulation between the trunk lid and inside-panel...? Kevin

...Looks Great BTW...!

Sounds like I'd better let a pro do mine...I didn't have that option. So far I've put it back together completely by myself. No insulation yet, was removed when the car was sand/soda blasted. I have some to cut and fit in the opening, on the list.

One day I plan to tell the story of this car. Was going to get Steven King to write about it , he told me it was way too scary! LOL

The reason I say that is there is a good upholstery guy just around the corner...This is easy for them and I'm sure he must be hang'in on by his fingernails...How much can a headliner run...? I could be making good money doing my thing to pay him and help keep him in business , 'till I need the seats and doors done , too . lol
