I am about to take the body off the frame to take it to the painters to get the firewall painted. Meanwhile I want to install the engine & transmission, adjust the brakes and secure the linkages and do all that is easiest done from above.
Would this be a good time to route the wiring harness as well or is that better done after the body is back on? And if I'm to install the harness now how is it located from front to back? Is it inside the frame with clips or under the wooden sill? I'm asking because on my parts car, it was hanging about 8" from the car.
The "main line" of the wiring harness runs along and inside of the left frame rail (on my '34 Standard). You could get that put in place while the body is off. To finish pulling the wires to the front lights, generator, & horn would require the front fenders, radiator & shell to be in place. To pull the wires to the dash would require the body to be back on. The rear brake, tail lights, and gas tank wires would be ready to hook up from the main line after you put the two rear fenders and tank back on.

During assembly the harness was attached to the body including the dash instruments. The headlight, starter and taillight gas tank were hooked up as or after the body is dropped onto the frame. The electrolock was installed in the dash but then connected to the coil and top snapped in place.
I find that it does not take too much time to install the harness after the body is installed but it requires climbing under the car and out several times to get it done.
