I run sealed beams in my 37. I kept the original parts so that if anyone ever wants to put it back to original they can. No one but old Chevy dudes would notice. The sealed beams work great and it has been like that since the 1960s when it was a drive to work car.
I run a 30 amp generator.

Hi Ed, my question was for chatty smitty. If he's using the older dimmer 2220 bulbs he could upgrade to the 2330 if he can find any. Another option would be the 2530 if he can find them. Still another option would be buying a pair of halogen bulbs from Bill Hirsch.

Sorry Tiny, I didn't catch that. I thought you were asking the number on the sealed beams. I have a bunch of NOS head light bulbs, I'll have to check them and see what I have. I didn't realize they were that hard to get. I would think if halogens are available that they would be the brightest in stock headlights.

Wagner was making the 2330s about three years ago when I bought a box through my local FLAPS. They may still be making them but they weren't in the book any longer. The 2530s would be the best solution IMHO but I couldn't find any source for them. I did find a seller on ebay about a year ago selling chinese made 2530s. I bought a box and every one burnt out the high beam in about 5 seconds of use. I recently bought a stock of NOS bulbs that had two full boxes of USA made GE 2530s which now are in my personal stash along with a box of GE 2330s. The Wagner 2330 bulbs were also made in china but apparently to a higher standard because they work well.

There are 2330 bulbs on Ebay right now but not cheap, also several kinds of 6 volt sealed beams including halogen.

You're right, they're not cheap. The problem is that if they're not being made any longer, they're cheaper than converting to sealed beams plus you stay original. I notice the same seller is still selling the chinese 2530s. Don't waste your money on them. He's also selling new 2330s and if they're the same chinese crap don't buy them either. If anyone's interested I have a few 2220s and a fair number of 2336 bulbs (the 12v equivalent to the 2330) for sale. Don's bulbs is selling the 2336s for $54 each. greenman I'll let mine go for $4 each.
