My father purchased this car in the 90's but was never able to restore it as he'd hoped. Its originally from Kentucky and only comes with a bill of sale.

Car is very rusty but apears to be an original V8-Powerglide car that was converted to stickshift. Needs full floors, rockers, etc. Trunk floor and chassis are surprisingly decent.

Missing front seat, dash gauges, steering wheel, etc.

We have the correct rear seats and rusty convertible trim panels, a very nice set of of bows, both doors, etc. Bows were stored inside and are in better shape.

Frame looks solid and car rolls. I'll post more pictures when the weather improves - sorry but this is the only one I have at the moment.

I also have a complete 55 265 PowerPack engine from another car that I bought for Dad several years ago. Its locked up but has the carb, maniolds, PG trans, etc. No air clenaer.

Located in Dayton, Ohio. Dad is open to offers on the car.

Hi chevyhoarder,

Not that it couldn't be done, but that car would not even make a good parts car. You could take the money needed to restore that car and buy a decent 55 convertible.

If I had known that growing old would be this much fun---I'd have done it sooner!

Chevyhoarder,

From your first post a week or so ago....

" ..... Dad is open to offers on the car."

Now I understand the car is for sale, altho I didn't understand that at first.
Geez, I wonder what a 55 convertible in that condition might be worth????
(Not worth a thing to me; but maybe somebody's look for a project....)
Good luck to ya.

Bill.

PS - Welcome to Chevy Chat.

iagree I agree with AntiqueMechanic. In looking the pictures over closely, there doesn't seem to be much of the remains of this car that are salvageable and as he said, you could buy a nice one for what it would cost to restore it and maybe even for a lot less. Beamer

That's brutal but thanks for the input. :)

A backhoe is a little out of my price range but for the time being I drug it home and Dad has asked me to list it on Ebay this week.

Its less work than digging a hole at least

chevyhoarder,Hi. What happended to your E-bay listing? I was watching this and it dissapeared. I thought you'd have the last laugh when it bid up big $bucks. There's a 57 that's not much worse that bid to $13,600 item no.270886613515. I would restore this if I was younger. Good luck with your sale.

I agree too with Antique Mechanic. What a shame. The 55 convertible is my all time favorite Chevy. It's too bad it was allowed to disintegrate. Rest in piece ole Hoss.

Breaks my heart.
