Does anyone know if a fan shroud for a 1964 Chevy Impala, Biscayne or Belair, is the same diameter for a small block as well as a 409 engine? Looking to buy a used one, but don't know if there is a difference. Hoping to rely on someone here that has more experience and knowledge than me. Thanks much for any info. Bobalouie

the sbc shroud's width is greater than that of the 348/409 shroud. as i recall, the 348 is about 2" in width and the sbc shroud is greater than 4",mike

Mike, thanks for the info; I am still interested in the diameter of the shroud, though.

I'm assuming that the 348/409 is larger in diameter than a small block? I had seen pics showing the difference in the length of the shroud "tunnel", and do appreciate your post.

since dealers have been known to take a sbc shroud and reduce its width and peddle the modified sbc shroud as a 348/409 shroud, i have to assume the diameters of both sbc and 348/409 shrouds are similar if not identical. i don't have a sbc shroud handy to measure, but i do have an original 348 on my 61 bubbletop. the car isn't handy just now but i can measure its diameter in a couple days if nobody posts the info. if so, remind me to get the measurements. regards, mike

They are the same diameter, both use a 18" fan blades. The small block should is about 6 3/4" long and the big block is 2-3" shorter.
