Hi, newbie here with my first post. New to the chat but long time member (1970)
I've started a 40 Suburban project and would like to know how many were produced.
Mine has the usual truck cowell tag indicating it was assembled in oakland in December with a low serial number of 2965. There is also a 3" x 1-1/2" Tag screwed to the floor in front of the passenger seat. The photo engraving is all but gone but the stamped numbers are still legable: 12 9 39. And in the two lower boxes 470649 and 659741.
Were Suburan bodies built at one location like Cabriolets? Still why would an early production unit have such a high serial number? Anybody have a legable Suburban tag that might tell what these numbers are?
Any help with info on production totals would be appreciated. I better get to work on this pile of rust and check back later.

The person that can help you is Barry Weeks.
The 1940 trucks went into production in Oct. of 1939 so 2965 is about corrrect for the serial number.
