I think the fan also was the greenish-gray engine color as manufactured.

First, you have to separate what types of color you are talking about: Light and Pigment. When discussing "light" colors, the color that is reflected is the color you see. So for example, if you have a blue hat, all the colors are absorbed, except for blue. The color blue is reflecting off the object and back to your eye....so therefore, you "see" blue. White light is created when all the colors are reflected back to your eye and none are absorbed. Black light (which is an oxymoron because it is absence of light) is when all the colors are absorbed into the object and none are reflected back to your eye...so you don't "see" anything. Therefore, you cannot see any colors. No light=darkness. So technically, according to light theory, White is a color (all the colors reflected) and black is not (all the colors absorbed). As for pigments (i.e. paint) black and white are both colors. Black pigments can exist by the mixing of other colors (if black wasn't a color, then how can the hue exist?) And white, although no other colors are mixed, can be created by itself. So both, when dealing with pigments, are colors and exist. I hope that clears up any confusion!

Let reason. The pulley is dark blue-gray (or greenish-gray - whatever) and the pulley is held in place by bolts through the fan. It makes sense that the fan and pulley were assembled to the engine as was the draft tube and them the whole thing was painted dark blue-gray (or greenish gray - whatever).

Wow, a dog that sees colors! and also knows why he sees colors of which wave lengths, now I am really impressed. Hey JunkYardDog could you lend me a couple of five spots so I can get some crayons in 254 colors! Chev Nut of course the original fan was painted engine color but the guys on the assembly line messed up the fans putting the engines in the chassis and they had to replace the fan with one from "parts" on final inspection!

The draft tube on the 1935/36 motors was installed at the same time the oil pan was put on. There's a bracket on the draft tube that is held in place via one of the oil pan bolts. The fan, pully and water pump were all installed before the engine was painted, so they should be engine color. I have factory photos showing it this way. Mike

When was the generator pulley painted? I understand that the generator was black and the generator pulley was engine color.
