I am finally back home and in my cage.

This has been an excellent year for touring. Most of my cars found an appropriate tour to attend.

The fun started with the Pre-29 Tour in Houghton Lake Michigan. Actually it was a combined Tour of the 4-cylinders and the Early 6 Cylinder Tour.

Nearby was the 48th Central Meet held in Dundee Michigan. This was a 1 day meet and included judging. Any car accepted by the VCCA was eligible to attend this meet.

Just some 80 miles North and we were at the 100th Anniversary of Chevrolet and 50th Anniversary of VCCA. Both touring and judging were available at this meet.

Just a bit over 2,800 miles and I was back at my base to rest a bit and choose another car.

Soon we were in attendance at the 40th NW Meet held in Salem Oregon. Because of the same year as a National Anniversary Meet, judging was not available, however the number of tours made up for it. Any eligible car by VCCA rules was welcome at this meet.

Hardly time to shine my shoes it was time to select another car and head to Lindsay California for the 2nd 1/2 of the Early 6-cylinder Tour. This was the second sequential tour I have attended. After a short tour to the General Grant National Park, we packed our suitcases and departed to the next stop, then on to the next one, and one more before we ended up where we had started.

The following week the 6th Annual SW Fall Tour was off and running in Prescott Arizona. This tour was limited to vehicles up through 1954, and I had a qualifying car. No judging at this meet. This was a spoke tour with the tour starting at the same place daily and returning back to base when the tour was completed.

When I had returned home and put the toys away I had covered some 9,500 miles. Was it fun, YES, the major problem was the heat. The generator in the Motor Home earned it's keep by keeping the coach cool.

It is not correct to say the VCCA does not have enough tours to attend. Every opportunity is available to show your trailer queen, exercise your touring cars, bring out your HPOCF car, or your CDPC and join the fun. You will meet friends from all over the country that you only get to contact on Chevy Chat II.

If the body is willing I will be back at it again next year.

If I had known that growing old would be this much fun---I'd have done it sooner!

Hey Ray,
You missed a few. Well actually several tours and meets. But being in the NW corner of the USA, you are excused from traveling too far away.

We have one more tour this year. The sold out Southern Fall Tour in Arkansas City, Kansas (no its not "are can sass" city but "are can saw" city) [Ark City for the locals]. Should be fun.

Check the G&D for location and times of tours in 2012. They tend to sell out so get your requests in quickly. Or you can set up a tour in your area. There are plenty of experienced people to help you get it going.
