I was looking for a car to have for use in my second home in Fl. I was looking on e-bay and found this 12 miles from home! This is the cleanest 25 year old vehicle I ever saw, needless to say it is in my driveway.

Awe..Shucks John, The previous owner or eBay cancelled the listing before I could see the pictures. By the way I hope that you escaped the damage of old Irene.

Nice looking wagon, John. Mrs. Fuller drove an '85 for 7-8 years from around 1989 to 1996. Beautiful, well cared for, low mileage "used" car in a medium metallic blue. The ONLY problem was the 305. Could hardly pull a hill on the way to the beach with a full load and the air on.

As for your comment in your list of cars....

1985 Caprice Wagon (Too nice to call unrestored)

What would be wrong with calling it a "nice original" ????

Hope you enjoy yours as much as we/she did.....

Bill.

Great car....I had several of those wagons.
The 1982 had a 267 CI engine. No power but good milage.
If the 1985 was an early car it will have a Chevrolet 305 engine. If a late 1985 will have the dog of dogs, an Oldsmobile 307 engine.

Ain't that the truth?!! I have a 1984 Oldsmobile with the 307 and that engine is a real Bow Wow!! It is absolutely powerless.

It is the Chevy 305, that was the first question I asked, before I even looked at the car. Even though the power issue will not be a problem, I had an Olds 307 in a 86 Buick Regal I got rid of this past spring, I just did not like the car or the engine. I bought the car to use while I am in Florida on trips. My Dad had passed (a fellow VCCA member from about 1975) and left me his home in Florida, that was the reason I could not attend Flint. I wanted to have a car with A/C that could drive on the highway if needed but also was eligble for collector insurance keeping the cost down. I originally searching for a sedan but this popped up on my e-bay search and the car was only a few miles away, so I did nothave to waste a whole day driving around to look it over. I knew the car when I saw it, the original owner lived around the block from mother-in law. So I pretty much told the seller (who I knew, his 62 Buick was the next car to be painted by the guy who did my Biscayne, small world) what do we need to do to make this happen, and we did.

FOLLOW-UP....... I just contacted my soon to be X "collector" insurance company to insure this 85. They told me that they would not insure the car, it is too new???? I have five cars with them now and I don't think I drove more than 500 miles combined and never had a claim. They did insure a 1988 Monte Carlo for me a few years back, and that was an abused piece of crap. When I asked them about that "they said that was different, that is considered a collector car." I don't want to say the name of the company but it begins with an 'H' and ends with a 'Y'
