I thought this was an interesting and posted it back on 8/10/11 in the "general discussions". Had 35 views but no replies. I posted "I'm not sure what brand these cars are, but I'm sure someone here can ID them." and still don't know. idea
later, bill

Hi Bill,

I believe them to be 36 Chevs, but a comment from a Chev guy in Sydney was

Note at the 7.10 min mark what appears to be a 35 Chev being assembled at the same time as the 36’s?

Cheers

Ray

Is there a chance that the shot at 7:10 is from the truck line? Pretty big ladder type frames.

Also check out the 5:00 min frame. front fenders look like its set up for a head light bar. Just to the right at the 4:50 min frame, the rear fenders being stamped ????? looks like a truck???

I don't have a clue as to what year etc. I was confused when I saw the engines being dropped in @ 4:15. The vent tube is on the drivers side of the engine. I'm used to my 50 216 having it on the passenger side. Definitely interesting to watch. Guess I never considered the lubrication being spread on the dies be fore forming the fenders etc. Scary business working around these machines back in the day. I worked on the engine line at AM general/LTV building H1 Hummers around 1985 and the trim line next to us had the bodies come down a incline from the second story. Once in a while one body would break loose from the conveyor and come down and slam into the next one. Kind of a chain reaction would result. Everyone on that line was always looking over their shoulder as you never knew when it might happen. willy Glad I didn't have to work there. But the sound it made would definitely make you jump.
thanks,Bill

Hi Bill,

I bet what ever Health and Safety rules were in place when you were on the line in 85 would be 100% more than back in 36. The site of those guys working between drilling or welding rams that are long enough to skewer a slow or out of position worker makes me cringe.

In this case, thank God for progress.

Cheers
