well it seems kinda strange to me that a person shouldn't ask a chevy enthusiast what a chevy part is worth. i have an antique car clock business and i have people ask me all the time what a particular clock is worth. i have no problem telling them what i know about values. maybe i'm kinda funny that way.

junkyard--if you can't sell a boneyard full of engines, maybe you need need to find a new endeavor. you did start um up and run um for the customer, right? or were you selling scrap iron? i use to sell used engines. i started them up and they hauled them off. when they left my driveway they owned it.

Yes, posting a part for sale requires an asking price.

Asking what a part is worth is just as legitimate a question as any other. It can be because a person is looking for one or has one that might be for sale. Just remember that condition and application are the two major factors in determining the value. The more accurate description the better others can give their opinions on value. It you like the advise then you can list the part for sale with the price you like or offer the person the price given by others.

The other way is to post a price and then add OBO. If the offer is mutually acceptable then a sale will be made.

So post your question in the 29-32 Forum rather than the for sale forum. Once you are satisfied with the information received then post in the for sale forum.

Dog, you are 100% correct. The last "rebuilt" engine that sold on ebay went for around 1100.
My first thought was that fishing wasn't going on after reading this entire thread. I then went to ebay and find out the seller knows a heck of a lot more then me regarding pricing of a 1931 chevy engine- and so, Ron, in my book you were on the $ concerning the fishing call.
Go to ebay and make your own judgement after reading the description....

With all the hype ("eight to ten-thousand dollars, or more" to rebuild) attached to this fellows eBay listing it seems he knows a lot more (or thinks he does) about "what this is worth" than most of the Chevy folks on this website; then WHY ask in the first place? No one is going to pay that much for an old 192 engine unless it is gold plated. Hope he hasn't spent the money yet............

maybe if all your engines were rebuilt you could sell them.

djphx: The auction of your 1931 "rebuilt" engine that you had on eBay ended today and apparently it didn't get any bids. Obviously having a "rebuilt" engine doesn't necessarily mean that it will sell either.

Since your "rebuilt" engine didn't sell you might want to take up a new "endeavor" like "road fossil" suggested for me because of my statement that old engines ("rebuilt" or otherwise) are usually boat anchors and are hard to sell. You might want to contact "road fossil" to see what he suggests.

Dog; What size boat would you recommend this item would be suitable for, and how strong a current would it hold against?

I am looking for the front bumper brackets for a 1930 Chevy coup. They are approximately 2 inches wide, 3/16" thick steel bar, bent over double in the center , with a 5/8" hole through both pieces for the attachment bolts to the front frame horns. The 5/8' holes sit just below the Main bumper brace bracket
Thanks
Steven
