Does anyone know where I can find good diagrams, drawings, documentation, pictures, etc for putting a 1931 Chevy truck cab together? I did a bunch of searches on the VCCA forum and all over the internet but I am not finding what I need. I bought the truck and the cab was already taken apart. I know it is pretty straight forward, but want to make sure I do it right. I have alot of the wood pieces in a pile and a little confused about what goes where.

Anyone have a '31-'32 pick-up in SE Pennsylvania area that maybe I can come take a look at and maybe take some pictures?

Thanks!!!

So my wood kit finally arrived. Looks pretty nice. Considering I didn't have much of the original wood due to the cab being disassembled before I bought it, I think I have figured our how it all goes together.

Now I am trying to figure out if it is better to put the cab back together while it is off of the chassis or build it on the chassis. I am leaning towards off the frame because then I have a nice level garage floor surface to work on.

What do you think?

Thanks,
Scott

I suggest you assemble the cab twice. Once on the frame to check the fit of the parts to the frame and sheet metal. Use temporary clamps, partially installed nails, etc. to hold it together and the metal parts in place. Note the adjustments necessary and mark the joints. Take apart, do the metal work necessary, wood adjustments (not already done) and coat inside of metal. You then can do the final assembly where ever you want. Just remember it is the frame that ultimately supports the cab.

It is like the old "saw" measure twice cut once.
