when the timing mark is on t.d.c. and the number 1 piston is at the top does that mean that it is on compression stroke or can it be 180 degrees off try again thanks pup this is a 327
It doesn't matter what engine it is (as long as it's a four stroke). The piston moves down to suck in air/gas, then up for compression, then down on power, and back up on exhaust. That's two turns of the crankshaft (pulley or flywheel depending on where the timing mark is), so it is up on compression or 180 off on exhaust when the mark lines up. I've tried as good as I can here....
