As one that always has rooted for the underdog, I must in good conscience vote for the Model A. Now I understand the mechanical and appearance advantages that the Chevy has. I also understand that Chevrolet out sold Ford in 1929 so the Model A was an underdog back then too. But what kept me from voting for the Chevy was loyalty! No not loyalty to a particular brand but to my conviction (no not jail time) and principals (not those edgukating kind neither). I am ducking, bobbing and weaving!

Not sure an unbiased person could choose. It would be like voting whether you prefer your daughter or your son on Father's Day. One is prettier, more petite, a bit older and certainly better dressed, while the other is younger, beefier, a bit rough around the edges, and more likely to smoke. I'll take both and love em equally!
If I have a bias at all it is for un-restored vintage cars no matter what make in great original condition.

Hee Hee Chipper is not going to get the whole 24 pack of from George Rambo all by himself for voting for the ford even if I have to do a little fibbing so I vote the same. Chipper, we can meet in Oklahoma to share it when I visit my daughter in Norman sometime. Dawg, but I'm thirsty.

We need a close up of the front of the Chevy; particularly the radiator cap/hood orniment.

The photos and scenery kinda make make you wish that you were sitting on that porch having to make this big decision. Being the owner of a 32 std sedan I'm perhaps biased so the Chevy gets my vote.

Yep....I know exactly what you mean! Mrs. Junkyard Dog and I enjoy sitting on that porch when we go to the Wood House several times each week to water the flowers, mow the grass and etc.

Walter Wood, the son of the builder of the house, was born there in 1881 and he lived in the house for 93 years until he died in 1974. After he passed away the house was abandoned and it fell into major disrepair over the next 30 years. At any rate, in the later years of his life old Walter used to sit on that porch day after day and wave at all of the cars that went by on the highway out in front of the house. I can still remember him sitting there on that porch waving at the cars back in the 1960's and 1970's when I went by the house on my way to work and back home again each day.

As an owner of both a '32 Chevy and two model A Fords (formerly), I'll vote for the Wood House. I do want to know the paint code or the name of the blue on the Chevy. Too light to be serge? Just one more thing. Just notice how many more Model As there are than equivalent Chevys. That really tells the story. Don't get me wrong, I'll take my Chevy over your Model A any day.

The paint code on the '32 Chevrolet is number 99 which is Manganese Blue and Black with Cream Medium wire wheels.

There is no paint code on the "Wood House" because there is no paint!

Thanks, it sure is pretty! I was looking for parts somewhere last night and came across those. Mighty pretty price, too! I reckon they are VERY proud of them!

I would say that RichardJ is commenting on how nice the Eagle radiator cap is, and the price that they sell for on Ebay Etc.

Thanks for the clarification. Rhe Eagle radiator cap is definitely cool and new reproduction caps do cost a few bucks, but the Eagle cap sure looks great on the car.

Kudos to Mr. George Rambo for his dedication and workmanship in restoring his "A".

I love all old cars from this era - all good looking with the style of each - different but easily recognizable - just some prettier than others.

Not a fair comparision here. If you were to remove the dual side mounts, the fender mounted wheels and put the spare on the rear, remove that rear trunk, the chrome doors on the hood, put on 16" wheels and tires, (i.e. 48 wheels and tires) remove the Eagle rad cap, change the fenders from the graceful curve or sweep to just a round cover over the wheels, somehow put on a shorter hood, just to name a few things, the "A" would stand a better chance.

Do I really need to state my preference or my vote??

My respect to the both of you and I did enjoy the Head to Head and the beauty and simplicity of the Ol Wood House also. Thanks. Great history lesson.

Thanks Jim....glad that you liked the story! George and I sure had fun with the face-off and we did a lot of laughing too...especially over Old Smokey. I don't think that George will ever follow behind my car again though!

Ya, George's Model A is really cool, especially when you see it in person....even though it is a Ford. Also, his Model A is extremely road worthy and he drives that car everywhere and he is not afraid to do so either. Even on long distances the "A" goes down the freeway great at 65 MPH. He does have a mild cam in the four-cylinder engine and that does help as well.

By the way, George hand-built a period travel trailer that he tows behind the Model A and the two vehicles look great together.

Mr Dog Could you post a photo of the Fxxd and the trailer I would like to see that.
